The TIME (for tomorrow's test)

It's time to study how to say the time in English.

Remember the way to say the time in English. When the minute hands is on the red side (on the left) we use TO. If the minute hands is on the yellow side (on the right),  then we use PAST.

Recuerda el modo de decir la hora en inglés. Cuando la manecilla de los minutos está en la parte roja (a la izquierda) usamos "TO" (menos). Si la manecilla está sobre la parte amarilla (a la derecha), entonces usaremos "PAST" (y). 

The time (revision)

There are different ways to ask for the time:

1. What time is it?
2. What's the time?
3. Can you tell me the time?

These can be the answers:

1. It's half past ten.
2. It's twenty-five past four.
3. It's ten to twelve.

 

To answer to a question about your daily life, do it like in this example:

• What time do you have lunch?
• I have lunch at (a) quarter past two.

Hay diferentes formas de preguntar la hora:

(1 y 2) ¿Qué hora es?

(3) ¿Puedes decirme la hora?

Estas pueden ser las respuestas:

(1) Son las diez y media.

(2) Son las cuatro y veinticinco.

(3) Son las doce menos diez..

Para responder a una preguntas sobre tu rutina diaria, hazlo como en el ejemplo:

¿A qué hora comes? 

Yo como a las dos y cuarto.
